Following on from the support as part of the universitys community involvement program, ten RCSI Bahrain students presented a token of appreciation to the President of RCSI Bahrain, Dr Faisal Al Mousawi. The group made up of nursing and medical students, accompanied by Ms Danah Smith acknowledged the universitys participation in the 12th Shuroop Camp for Children with Diabetes.
This annual event hosted by the Bahrain Diabetes Society, catered for over 60 children that had been newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. The multidisciplinary healthcare team of doctors, nurses, dieticians and fitness trainers were available around the clock. The RCSI Bahrain students volunteered their time for the three day camp, and served as role models to the children participating.
The university graciously provided the group with a training area for two days in preparation for the camp. This enabled all those faculty, staff and students to review the important issues that would arise from such an activity.
Those RCSI Bahrain students participating spoke with President Al Mousawi and presented him with a token of appreciation. In turn the university presented a cheque from the fund-raising events held during Diabetic month.
