The School of Nursing & Midwifery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland- Medical University Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) for the first time, held a one week Orientation Programme from the 13th till the 17th of February, co ordinate by Dr Hussain Nassif, for the second graduating nursing class, due to confer this June. The programme was designed to prepare the undergraduate nursing students for the work market. The topics included stress management, work conflicts, building motivational relationships and career success. A total of 73 attended the week long session. The three workshops and a hospital careers day centered around enhancing the students interview and CV writing skills, a workshop conducted by the National Society for Support of Education and Training and access to exploring the private sector. Fourth year Nursing Student, Ms Noora Buallay said, It was a great opportunity to have such workshops before graduation as we get lot of benefit from it. We learnt lot of things that will help us in dealing with people and how to improve and develop our self. We hope to have more of these workshops in the future as it gave us lots of important information and tips.

The university made available to the students representatives from many private hospitals within the Kingdom. Those participating included: American Mission Hospital, Bahrain Specialist Hospital, Al Amal Hospital, Al Hilal Hospital, Ibn Al Nafees Hospital, International Hospital, Noor Specialist Hospital and King Hamad University Hospital. In preparation for them to enter the work place and explore their future the attending institutions were able to provide information about job services, salaries and progression within the private sector. With RCSI Bahrain conferring its second batch of nursing students, totaling 73, this week long course will give them more avenues to pursue and open up a wider range of options.
