The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland- Medical University of Bahrain hosted diplomats from seven countries on Wednesday the 1st of June. The university has students of 35 different nationalities. The university will graduate the second group of healthcare professionals this June, including 55 new doctors half of whom are from outside Bahrain. This was an opportunity for the students to meet with their diplomatic representation in Bahrain and to showcase the dynamic scope of the both the university and their personal achievements.
Present at the event were: HE Dr Hubert Lang the German Ambassador, Mr Ajay Kumar the Deputy Ambassador of India, Pakistans Community Welfare Attache Mr. Rana Rafeq Khan, HE Mr. Khalid Zitouni Tuisian Ambassador and Mr. Abdulrahim Turen a Turkish embassy representative. The diplomats were greeted by the senior management and a short presentation was given by Prof. Kevin OMalley, Founding President of RCSI Bahrain. Although international in scope, we retain a distinct Irish standard with our syllabus, curriculum, examinations and calendar of events corresponding directly to those of RCSI Dublin. At qualification, graduates are conferred degrees from RCSI Bahrain in addition to degrees from the National University of Ireland. Having met with their respective citizens, graduants, the diplomats toured the university. HE Mr Khalid Zitouni congratulated the Kingdom of Bahrain for this huge scientific institution. Equally impressed Pakistans Community Welfare Attache Mr. Rana R. Khan said this university will contribute towards improved health status of the people in Bahrain and the region.
A total of 167 students will graduate on June 13th from RCSI Bahrains nursing and medical undergraduate programmes, nursing bridging two year program and from Masters in Ethics and Law programme. The President of RCSI Bahrain, Dr Faisal Al Mousawi commented, RCSI Bahrain was founded with the aim of providing healthcare education and training to international standards for students from Bahrain, the region and beyond. Our noble purpose has at its core: education, training and research, aimed at enhancing healthcare. Healthcare requires intelligent, capable and committed professionals who have been educated and trained to embrace and apply the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes.
